How to Contribute

HOW EMPLOYEES MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS

You make contributions via your employer who deducts either 2%, 4% or 8% of your gross salary and sends it to IRD with your PAYE deductions. IRD will transfer the money to your provider.

If you want to, you can also make additional voluntary payments directly to your GMK account by direct debit or cheque.

You can also make voluntary KiwiSaver contributions through IRD. IRD contribution options include electronic bank transfers, over-the-counter payments and cheque payments. Details here.

Contribution rates for employees

  • Through your employer: 2%, 4% or 8% of your gross salary, and you can switch between these percentages by agreeing with your employer.
  • Voluntary additional payments directly to GMK: direct debit ($50 minimum per transfer) or cheque ($100 minimum per cheque). Details and forms here.
  • Voluntary additional payments through IRD: electronic banking, cheque, or cash. Any amount. Details here.
  • There is no maximum contribution

MEMBERS WHO ARE NOT EMPLOYEES

Members who are not employees, and employees who want to make lump sum or top-up payments, can contribute directly to IRIS-GMK in two ways:

Direct Debit

  • The minimum payment is $50. There is no maximum.
  • Payments can be made monthly, bi-monthly, 6-monthly or annually.
  • Fill out the online form, print it, sign it and mail it to us. Sorry, but we need an original signature for the bank. Don‘t fax us Direct Debit forms. We won‘t be able to process them.
  • Address the envelope to IRIS-GMK, Free Post 210729, P.O. Box 10068, Wellington. Note: it can take up to 2 weeks for banks to process direct debit authorities.
  • The Direct Debit form is here.

Cheque

  • Cheques must be made out to Gareth Morgan KiwiSaver Scheme Trust.
  • Cheques must be accompanied by a lump-sum deposit form that includes your full name, date of birth and IRD number. The lump sum contribution form is here.
  • It must be a minimum of $50. There is no maximum.
  • Address the envelope to IRIS-GMK, Free Post 210729, P.O. Box 10068, Wellington.

What about automatic payments, electronic banking & over-the-counter payments?

No problem, you just need to do it through IRD. They’re all set up to take these KiwiSaver payments. The instructions are on their website. Please read the whole page.
